This NEW plug-in for Keyboard LaunchPad (KLP) lets you control Skype like never before by allowing you to use only a keyboard (using keyboard shortcuts/hotkeys), so you can Skype from your comfortable chair--or anywhere in the house (as far as your wireless keyboard or handheld keyboard, NControl, will take you!) No need to find a flat surface for your mouse or even be in view of a computer screen to use Skype.

It even includes Touch Tone Dialing (DTMF), so that you can navigate phone menus.

How to Get Started

1. Download our Skype plugin (by downloading, you agree to the End User Agreement) and save it to the Actions folder inside of the Stardock KLP folder:

C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\KLP\Actions
Important: It MUST be saved to this folder to work.

2. Open KLP and type a New Hotkey Title (eg. "Skype Uncle Eddie") and any (optional) description. (TIP: Since titles are listed alphabetically on the left (below) use "Skype" as the first word for all Skype hotkeys for easy reference.)
 
 

3. Click "Add Action" and select "Skype Action" from the drop down list (as shown above).

4. In the Define Skype Hotkey window (right), select the hotkey type you are defining (eg. for Uncle Eddie, select Call Friend and Uncle Eddie from the pull down menu which will contain all your Skype contacts.
 
5. In the field in the Assign Hotkey window, enter a keyboard shortcut: eg. for Uncle Eddie press the Ctrl key and "e" to create a hotkey that will be easy to remember. And Click OK.

6. Repeat this for all Skype keyboard shortcuts you want to create by just clicking anywhere in the list on the left side of KLP and typing a new Hotkey Title, etc.

Now you only need to enter that hotkey to perform the action!

Important: If you add a new audio device, you will need to restart your computer before it will appear in the pull-down list.

AudioSwitch - how to create hotkeys to switch from headset to speaker phone, or any audio device

You can also create multiple actions to be performed with a single hotkey, such as creating a hotkey to switch from headset to speaker phone (eg. Audio In AND Audio Out).

Just create a new Hotkey Title for the audio device (eg. "Skype Speaker Phone") as instructed above, selecting "Set Audio In" and the desired device from the pull down list. Choose hotkey that will be easy to remember like Ctrl+S. Then in KLP, click "Add Action" and select "Select Audio Out" and choose that same device.

You can now switch to that audio device (for both input and output)
with the single hotkey you selected.

 
Important: Do not assign hotkeys that you use in other programs
(eg. Ctrl+C will no longer "copy" if assigned to another command here.)
